" Building a home is part science, part art, and part plain hard work. As one of the last handmade products available to us, each home is unique in the same way that an oil painting by a landscape artist is unique. The artist can stand in the same place and paint the same panorama using identical colors and the same size canvas as for a previous work. Yet in the end, every painting has a personality distinctly its own."

- homebuilder press of the National Association of Home Builders.

Details :

Construction Schedule

* We will do our best to get you in your new home as soon as possible, but keep in mind there are many factors and variables that can add or subtract the time necessary to build your home. They include:
1. Weather
2. Permits
3. Changes in Plans or Specs.

4. Selection of Allowance Items

* Unfortunately we do not have a crystal ball to be able to give you a firm completion date at the beginning. We can usually tell you an approximate move-in date within 30 days of completion.

Site Visits

* We encourage you to visit your new home.

* We will schedule a time to meet with you on-site several times during the construction process for a quality assurance inspection.

* Please keep in mind we work for you and our subcontractors work for us. If you have a question or concern, please call or office immediately, do not interfere with our subcontractors, it will only cause time delays, confusion and increases in the cost of your home.

* Keep in mind your home is a work in progress. There may be things that are in the wrong place or incomplete. Do not panic, it will be like the plans when finished.

Safety

* Safety is our number one concern

* Remember to use common sense

* Always look in the direction you are walking, looking down and in front of you. Hazards exist all around you.

* Watch children and do not let them leave your side. A construction site is not a playground.

* You can make your visits enjoyable by watching your back and that of others, no one is immune to injury.  Frustrations and Emotions

* Building a home is very emotional and sometimes can be frustrating. Most of this anxiety can be avoided by understanding and communicating with us.

* From time to time there will be periods of little or no progress, the following reasons may shed some light on this subject, but is not inclusive.

1. Weather delays. Keep in mind, just because it is sunny and the weather is nice, it doesn't mean that the seven days of rain we just had didn't effect our schedule for many days to come after the storm.

2. Every trade is scheduled to complete a certain aspect of your home, in order for the next trade to do his part the trade before him must be complete. There may be days or sometimes weeks, in between such trades, due to either one finishing earlier than expected, or the lead time for the next was further out then expected due to a shortage in skilled craftsmen.

3. Building Inspections can sometimes take days, until we have a green tag to continue we are forced to wait.

4. Not only are we experiencing labor shortages, but material shortages as well. Some materials take weeks or even months to arrive on-site. We make every effort to order in advance, but some material deliveries are beyond our control.

5. Do not visit the site everyday, building your home is a very complicated and tedious job. Many things take time, and may not be visible that anything has happened on a daily basis even though they have changed slightly.

Quality

Quality is defined as something one views with value. Since everyone's view of value is different, it is important to establish a common understanding of the quality expected and the price that is associated with it.

Hot Tip
MOLD and mildew, recently found to be dangerous allergens, can be extremely toxic to children and adults living in your home. These micro-organisms can also cause severe structural damage to your home.

Hot Tip
Get a can of spray paint after the electrician roughs in your outlets and switches. On the floor near each one, paint a symbol for wall switch, single/dual gang outlets, fixtures, any opening in the wall. After the dry wall goes up, make sure you have a hole in it for each of your marks on the floor.
